There are 3 main types of Simulation. They are:
- Live Simulation
- Virtual Simulation
- Constructive Simulation

Live Simulation
Simulation that is operated with real systems and operated by real people is known as live simulation. Any types of live performance such as music, dance, act, sports is counted as live simulation.
Features of Live Simulation
- It may involve individuals or groups. For example singer may perform alone but it needs to have two team to play cricket on live.
- The person involved may use actual equipment. For example, a singer use a microphone where a player may use cricket ball or bat.
- The simulation is almost similar to the real event. If you see a cricket match on live tv that won’t be much different than stadium.
- The operations in live are almost same. As example, If a batsman make a six in the field then it will also be a six on the live simulation.
Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is one type of simulation that use live simulation. Showing sports on TV screen is the most common example of Augmented Reality.
Virtual Simulation
Simulation that is operated with simulated systems and operated by one or more real people then it is called virtual simulation. For example, Airplane simulation, fire control simulation, war simulation etc.
Features of Virtual Simulation
- Person should have motor control skills. Consider for Airplane simulation. In this case you have to drive an Airplane. If you don’t know how to control Airplane engine then it is impossible for you to take the simulation and complete it.
- Person should have good decision skill. For example, you are attending in a fire control simulation. Then you must need to decide what will be best to extinguish the fire. If you cannot decide that within the moment then you may fail the simulation.
- Person should have a good communication skill. There are many simulation where communication is needed. For example, C4I (C4I stands for Command, Control, Communication, Computer and Intelligence. It is system that provides battlefield information for commanders to make immediate decisions and control military forces to accomplish a mission.) teams need communication skill during simulation.
Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality is one type of simulation that use virtual simulation. Playing any stream with a virtual machine environment is an example of Virtual Reality
Constructive Simulation
Simulation that is operated completely with virtual systems that is known as constructive simulation. A constructive simulation is involved with a virtual system and virtual people.
In constructive simulation there may have some input from real people but they don’t operate it at all. And they cannot determine the output. For example, in a war simulator a military user may input data to instruct a unit of army to move ahead and fetch enemy. But that user cannot say what will be the result.
Features of Constructive Simulation
- Analyze the simulation concepts. User should analyze the concept on what the simulation is being and how it is being executed.
- Prediction of possible outcome. User should predict the possible outcome from the flow of simulation.
- Measure the data of simulation. How the mans are performing in the simulation that should be measured.
- Make a statistics. From the data found by measurement user should make a statistics report.
- Analyze the result. After getting result analyze and compare it with the predicted result. On this result you have to decide whether the process is ok or should be improved.
